How-to-relieve-headaches-naturally

Headaches are one of the most popular medical complaints. You've most likely suffered one before and you may even be one of the 45 million in the U.S. that suffers chronic headaches. There are many different types of headaches and many different reasons why you could have one. We have listed some natural solutions to help relieve your headaches.

  • Chiropractic care: Research has shown that chiropractic adjustments are very effective in treating headaches especially headaches that originate in the neck. Getting an adjustment rather than taking medication is shown to not only have fewer side effects but they also provide longer lasting relief.
  • Essential oils: Peppermint and Lavender oils are wonderful in helping to relieve headaches. Peppermint oil will help to open up clogged blood vessels (which usually cause headaches) and regulate blood flow in the body. Lavender has wonderful calming effects that can help to naturally heal migraines and headaches caused by stress or anxiety. You can simply inhale the oils or rub them on your forehead and temples for relief.
  • Ginger: Ginger will help to reduce inflammation of the blood vessels in the head to help ease headache pain. Ginger can also help with nausea associated with migraines.
  • Stretch: A few stretches can help to reduce the intensity of your headaches.
    1. First move your chin upwards and downwards, left and right, and bend your neck sideways towards each shoulder.
    2. Slowly rotate the neck in a clockwise and anticlockwise direction to help the shoulder and neck muscles relax.
  • Ice and Heat: Apply ice to the back of your neck to help reduce inflammation that can contribute to headaches. You can also soak your feet in hot water which will draw the blood to the feet and away from the head.
