In addition to pain relief, dry needling can also improve your mobility, making it a good treatment for muscle pain and recovering from muscular injury.

Dry needling is often used to treat these problems in combination with other treatments like chiropractic and massage therapy.

Is Dry Needling the Same as Acupuncture?

No. The only similarity between the two is that needles are used. Acupuncture is based on eastern medicine, and the needles are used to ease pain by opening up a pathway for healing energy. Dry needling is based in western medicine, and the needles are used to relieve trigger points. Trigger points are areas in which tightness is causing pain and restricting motion.

Is Dry Needling Safe?

While the technique is safe, dry needling may not be a good treatment for you depending on your overall health. Dr. Wood will conduct a preliminary exam to understand your health history. Depending on this, he will decide if dry needling is right for you.
